You, the Spirit & God’s Word.

Just pray, read and engage. The Distraction-Free Bible Series or D-FBS was created to help you do just that. A series of Bible ‘booklets’ that have;

  • no verse numbers
  • no chapter headings
  • no footnotes
  • no distractions

Instead, it allows for you to interact with the Scripture by;

  • allowing for easy engagement, with a large notes section relevant to what you are reading (Left- and right-handed versions available)
  • keeping the format manageable (A5 or Half-Letter)
  • keeping the thickness manageable (longer books are divided into parts)
  • keeping it affordable
  • allowing you to keep versions of your notes (first reading, second reading etc) like a journal

My Philosophy. KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid. I wanted a simple way to engage with God’s Word as I was included to other-think and in doing so not relate to God.

pray, read & engage.

taking the anxiety out of bible reading

Why the D-FBS?

The short answer – I needed it. I am an ADHD academic. I struggled to relate to Scripture as God’s Word to me. I wanted to analyse everything and “dig deep”. There is nothing wrong with that – Bible Study. I even have some resources I use for that available here.

But I wanted something that would encourage me to just read the Word. Read it as the early believers would have. Without “guides” such as chapters, headings and verse numbers – let alone footnotes, Strong’s numbers etc.

I also wanted something I could easily share with others. Read again and again and keep my reading notes. So I have created an “engage” page with a simple guide to help me pay attention to what I am reading.

There is a time and a place to Study the Scriptures. Really sink your mind into it. But then there is a time and a place to sink your spirit into God’s Word to you. To let the living word of God speak to your soul.

Living Word

Does not return void

Sharper than a double edged sword

A lamp to guide you

Each Book Part is easy to print. Write your name on the cover and the date when you started reading it. I challenge you to finish the part.
Then when you want to read it again – print and start a new one. Then re-read your notes from the first time reading that Book Part. What has changed? What has stayed the same?

Growth & change

Each spread has some scripture on one side and a space to engage on the other. Using your favorite colors assign a color to anything on that page that encourages you, challenges you or that you question.

Then note your thoughts about that – why now does it encourage you. What in your current life circumstances is this challenging you. Finally, be curious. Ask questions about the scriptures. You can use those questions to guide deeper study.

Use this in your small groups, life groups or circle of friends. Give each on a Book Part and ask them to read it. Journal-ling their lived experience. When you come together again, share what you have been reading and what your engagement has been.
